DIY Accessory Storage

So we have talked about how to organize your closet, but what about all of you accessories? Do you have you accessories scattered all over your home and can never find it when you want to wear it? I know I have a large jewelry box, but that still doesn’t do the trick. I leave my accessories everywhere and most of the time things end up getting lost. Time to think outside the box again and get creative. Here are some ways to store you accessories that will be a great way to stay organized!

Hair Ties/Bobby Pins- I can’t seem to keep my in the same place, thus I have to purchase new ones once a month! These awesome ideas will defiantly help with that problem.

* If you are looking for easy storage for your hair ties, this will be a great solution for you! All you have to do it purchase a carabineer and put all of your hair ties through it! It’s that easy!

*A simple towel rack and mason jars will jazz up your storage or accessories. All you have to do is hang a towel rack and then hang mason jars from it! It looks super cute and works really well for bobby pins, barrettes, and any other small items you seem to lose.

What's Your Body Type?

How do you feel about going jean shopping? Do you hate it as much as I do? Jean shopping for us women is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. I know when I go out to find new jeans that it is a mission that will most likely take me all day. Usually we wait until the last minute, when our jeans couldn’t possibly last another season, before we will go out and look for new ones. I believe that I have found a tool to help us all out when shopping for those dreadful jeans. If you know what type of figure your body is and what you should be on the lookout for could help you drastically cut you shopping time down. Let’s break this down into four body types and what cuts of jeans you should be trying on.

Hourglass Figure- Curvy jeans are going to be your friend here. You are looking for something that is going to hug your curves not contort them so you don’t want a super tight fitting jean. You should be looking for something that is more fitted in the hips with straight legs. This will help to slim and elongate your figure. Jeans with a little stretch will only add to your comfort level.

Olympic Apparel

The winter Olympics are upon us with opening ceremonies in Sochi Friday. Have you been looking forward to the Winter Olympics? I sure have. Have you seen the new apparel our USA team will be wearing this year? Ralph Lauren was asked to be the designer for the second straight Winter Olympics. After much controversy, with the last Olympics in Vancouver having the clothing made in China, Ralph Lauren has put together a completely American made product. Let’s take a look and break down this opening ceremonies look our USA team will be wearing this year.

  1. A knit patchwork handcrafted cardigan embellished with stars.
  2. The cardigan is paired with a cream cotton turtle neck.
  3. Slim-fitting white fleece athletic pants with the “Team USA” label.
  4. Black leather boots with red laces.
  5. A cotton accented belt with American graphics
  6. A raindeer hat

So what do you think about the look? I think Ralph Lauren did a great job making this look comfortable. This defiantly represents the USA colors and has a great spin incorporating the American Flag with the patchwork on the cardigan. This look Ralph Lauren put together is a heart stopping $1,573.00! To find some affordable USA inspired apparel stop into your local Cherry Pickers and support our team! I can’t wait to tune in tomorrow to watch the opening ceremonies!

The Smokey Eye Look

Are you looking for a bold new look? Why not try something new with your makeup? The smokey eye isn't anything new but is still a highly popular trend. It will give you a great bold look when you want to stand out. I would love to be able to do it to myself, but when it comes to makeup I am pretty impaired. This especially intimidated me because it looked so complex. I needed to break it down, and wouldn't you know it, it's super easy! Hear are five easy steps to fallow.

1. Use a medium sized brush first to apply your darker color in an arch shape just above the crease of the lid. Then blend it down to the lash line.

2. Trace you upper lash line with eyeliner and smudge it with your fingertip.

3. With a smaller brush, press the main color shade of your choice into the lower lash line.

4. Apply a paler or lighter color to the inner corners of the eyes to lighten the effect.

5. Add mascara and you have a finished product!

DIY Leg Warmers

Who wishes it was 80 outside and sunny? I sure do! I hate being cold, but one of my favorite things is being able to layer. When you are out of the house my theory is that you can always take layers off if you get warm but you can’t put them on. One trend I keep seeing are all the super cute boot socks and leg warmers. Every time I go to shop for some to go with my new outfit I can’t find any. Many stores ran low this winter due to the high demand of them. I was determined to find the perfect pair; my outfit wouldn’t look right if I didn’t have any. My outfit is a oversized tank top with a knit cardigan and leggings. Accessories are a must so I have added an eternity scarf and leg warmers to wear with my riding boots. How do the leg warmers not complete this outfit right? This got me thinking why not make my own? This way I get to choose the color and design I like best. I am not super crafty nor am I able to make anything and have it turn out like the picture. Making leg warmers was much easier than I thought it would be! Here are the steps to make your own leg warmers in less than one minute.

*All you need is an old sweater and fabric scissors.

*Hold one sleeve out nice and straight.

*Cut from under the arm area to the top of the sleeve.

*Do the same to the other side and that’s all there is to it!

DIY Closet Organization

We could all used a little more space in our closet right? Let’s face it; our significant other probably doesn’t even have anywhere to put anything in there because you have taken it over with all of your items. I even have a walk-in closet and still think I could use more room. Do you get lazy when you have to do your laundry then have to find the time to hang everything and carefully put it away so you remember where it is? I know I don’t, I hate laundry. There are many different ways to organize your closet to make finding things a little easier. I mean if you have to wake up early for work in the morning wouldn’t it be easier if you could find your outfit you want to wear in less than five minutes? Couldn’t you go without the stress of not being able to find the one last item you need to pull your whole outfit together? Well let’s get crafty and put our thinking caps on for a little DIY closet organization.

Christmas Wish List

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Having snow on the ground definitely helps get in the holiday spirit this time of year. This is one of my favorite holidays. It’s a time for friends and family to get together and show the love and appreciation they have for each other.  Everyone gathered around the Christmas tree sharing stories and eating way more food than one should eat in a day sounds perfect to me. Also the few gifts we share with one another. How is your Christmas shopping coming along? Are you finished or do you have yet to start? No need to stress on what to get this year. Here are some great holiday gifts sure to please even the toughest person on your list to shop for. These are also some great stocking suffer ideas!

Jewelry: Simple enough right? Not everyone has their ears pierced so to stay safe a necklace or bracelet is probably the best way to go. It is an easy addition to the wardrobe they already have. It can also jazz up any outfit!

Scarf: Whether you go with a fashion scarf or a winter scarf this is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Eternity scarves are the most popular style this year. If you’re looking for something a little more bold then go for an animal print scarf; a must-have among fashionistas!

Tips and Tricks to Caring For Your Wardrobe

We all get really excited about wearing out a new outfit to some fun event, but when it comes to washing it what do we do? If you’re anything like me it goes right into the washer and straight to the dryer without even thinking twice about it. Oops! It more than likely shrunk or tore off the sequins and is now completely destroyed and you only got to wear it the one time! Bummer right? This all happens at some point to us all in our hectic crazy busy lives we have. No need to fear I have some of the best tips and tricks to keeping your items looking great no matter how many times they go through the wash.

Jeans- If you want to keep your denim a rich color I would suggest washing them inside out, especially if they have any type of embellishments on the pockets. This will prevent the color from fading and any of the gems on the pockets to get eaten by the washer. Also if you are washing a pair of dark jeans for the first time I would put them through the wash alone. Dark denim is known to bleed in the first few times. Manufactures of jeans don’t put as much into the washing stage of the dark denim due to keeping the color so rich.

Winter Accessories

Winter is almost here; crazy to think about right? Soon there will be a blanket of white on the ground, and the extreme cool temps along with it. It would be completely fine with me if the snow held out until Christmas, but I don’t think we will be that lucky. The farmer’s almanac says that there will be below normal temperatures and above normal snowfall for most of the state. So the question is; are you prepared for the season and the cold? You are probably wondering is there any possible way to look “cute” in your winter coat? The answer is yes! You just have to find the right accessories to complete your look. Here are some great examples.

Scarves- This is not only going to keep you super warm in the winter but it is also a fashion statement all by its self. Infinity scarves are really in this season and can even be worn with your everyday outfit!

Hats- There are many different options here. If you are looking to make a statement in you winter coat go for the beanie. This hat is the most popular style this year.

Black Friday Trends

Do you wake up early the day after Thanksgiving to shop on one of the busiest days of the year? Maybe you don’t even sleep at all because you are dedicated to be at the midnight madness sales? Then you are an avid Black Friday shopper! In my family it's more like a tradition now. Have you made a plan on what stores to hit first? Believe it or not those ads will be out sooner than you think. Do you know what items you have in mind this year? Adding to your wardrobe on Black Friday is a really great way to take advantage of the deals. The mall may even be the best place to end up at. Here are some items that will give you the most bang for your buck this year.

Boots- Your big name brands like UGG, Bear Paw, and Naughty Monkey’s are some of the top rated boots on sale this year. This is the perfect time to stock up on new winter boots and they make great Christmas gifts!

Jeans- Your favorite brand name denim will most defiantly have some type of door busting deals. Any type of embellished denim with an emphasis on the back pocket is a popular style this year. Watch out for these deals!
