The Smokey Eye Look

Are you looking for a bold new look? Why not try something new with your makeup? The smokey eye isn't anything new but is still a highly popular trend. It will give you a great bold look when you want to stand out. I would love to be able to do it to myself, but when it comes to makeup I am pretty impaired. This especially intimidated me because it looked so complex. I needed to break it down, and wouldn't you know it, it's super easy! Hear are five easy steps to fallow.

1. Use a medium sized brush first to apply your darker color in an arch shape just above the crease of the lid. Then blend it down to the lash line.

2. Trace you upper lash line with eyeliner and smudge it with your fingertip.

3. With a smaller brush, press the main color shade of your choice into the lower lash line.

4. Apply a paler or lighter color to the inner corners of the eyes to lighten the effect.

DIY Leg Warmers

Who wishes it was 80 outside and sunny? I sure do! I hate being cold, but one of my favorite things is being able to layer. When you are out of the house my theory is that you can always take layers off if you get warm but you can’t put them on. One trend I keep seeing are all the super cute boot socks and leg warmers. Every time I go to shop for some to go with my new outfit I can’t find any. Many stores ran low this winter due to the high demand of them. I was determined to find the perfect pair; my outfit wouldn’t look right if I didn’t have any. My outfit is a oversized tank top with a knit cardigan and leggings. Accessories are a must so I have added an eternity scarf and leg warmers to wear with my riding boots. How do the leg warmers not complete this outfit right? This got me thinking why not make my own? This way I get to choose the color and design I like best. I am not super crafty nor am I able to make anything and have it turn out like the picture. Making leg warmers was much easier than I thought it would be! Here are the steps to make your own leg warmers in less than one minute.

*All you need is an old sweater and fabric scissors.

*Hold one sleeve out nice and straight.

*Cut from under the arm area to the top of the sleeve.

*Do the same to the other side and that’s all there is to it!

DIY Closet Organization

We could all used a little more space in our closet right? Let’s face it; our significant other probably doesn’t even have anywhere to put anything in there because you have taken it over with all of your items. I even have a walk-in closet and still think I could use more room. Do you get lazy when you have to do your laundry then have to find the time to hang everything and carefully put it away so you remember where it is? I know I don’t, I hate laundry. There are many different ways to organize your closet to make finding things a little easier. I mean if you have to wake up early for work in the morning wouldn’t it be easier if you could find your outfit you want to wear in less than five minutes? Couldn’t you go without the stress of not being able to find the one last item you need to pull your whole outfit together? Well let’s get crafty and put our thinking caps on for a little DIY closet organization.

Christmas Wish List

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Having snow on the ground definitely helps get in the holiday spirit this time of year. This is one of my favorite holidays. It’s a time for friends and family to get together and show the love and appreciation they have for each other.  Everyone gathered around the Christmas tree sharing stories and eating way more food than one should eat in a day sounds perfect to me. Also the few gifts we share with one another. How is your Christmas shopping coming along? Are you finished or do you have yet to start? No need to stress on what to get this year. Here are some great holiday gifts sure to please even the toughest person on your list to shop for. These are also some great stocking suffer ideas!

Jewelry: Simple enough right? Not everyone has their ears pierced so to stay safe a necklace or bracelet is probably the best way to go. It is an easy addition to the wardrobe they already have. It can also jazz up any outfit!

Scarf: Whether you go with a fashion scarf or a winter scarf this is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Eternity scarves are the most popular style this year. If you’re looking for something a little more bold then go for an animal print scarf; a must-have among fashionistas!

Tips and Tricks to Caring For Your Wardrobe

We all get really excited about wearing out a new outfit to some fun event, but when it comes to washing it what do we do? If you’re anything like me it goes right into the washer and straight to the dryer without even thinking twice about it. Oops! It more than likely shrunk or tore off the sequins and is now completely destroyed and you only got to wear it the one time! Bummer right? This all happens at some point to us all in our hectic crazy busy lives we have. No need to fear I have some of the best tips and tricks to keeping your items looking great no matter how many times they go through the wash.

Jeans- If you want to keep your denim a rich color I would suggest washing them inside out, especially if they have any type of embellishments on the pockets. This will prevent the color from fading and any of the gems on the pockets to get eaten by the washer. Also if you are washing a pair of dark jeans for the first time I would put them through the wash alone. Dark denim is known to bleed in the first few times. Manufactures of jeans don’t put as much into the washing stage of the dark denim due to keeping the color so rich.

Winter Accessories

Winter is almost here; crazy to think about right? Soon there will be a blanket of white on the ground, and the extreme cool temps along with it. It would be completely fine with me if the snow held out until Christmas, but I don’t think we will be that lucky. The farmer’s almanac says that there will be below normal temperatures and above normal snowfall for most of the state. So the question is; are you prepared for the season and the cold? You are probably wondering is there any possible way to look “cute” in your winter coat? The answer is yes! You just have to find the right accessories to complete your look. Here are some great examples.

Scarves- This is not only going to keep you super warm in the winter but it is also a fashion statement all by its self. Infinity scarves are really in this season and can even be worn with your everyday outfit!

Hats- There are many different options here. If you are looking to make a statement in you winter coat go for the beanie. This hat is the most popular style this year.

Black Friday Trends

Do you wake up early the day after Thanksgiving to shop on one of the busiest days of the year? Maybe you don’t even sleep at all because you are dedicated to be at the midnight madness sales? Then you are an avid Black Friday shopper! In my family it's more like a tradition now. Have you made a plan on what stores to hit first? Believe it or not those ads will be out sooner than you think. Do you know what items you have in mind this year? Adding to your wardrobe on Black Friday is a really great way to take advantage of the deals. The mall may even be the best place to end up at. Here are some items that will give you the most bang for your buck this year.

Boots- Your big name brands like UGG, Bear Paw, and Naughty Monkey’s are some of the top rated boots on sale this year. This is the perfect time to stock up on new winter boots and they make great Christmas gifts!

Jeans- Your favorite brand name denim will most defiantly have some type of door busting deals. Any type of embellished denim with an emphasis on the back pocket is a popular style this year. Watch out for these deals!

Pea Coats

The temperature this fall has got me thinking we skipped over the season altogether. I do believe that we may be in for a real treat in the weeks to come with temps we aren’t expecting; the cold! Are you prepared for the cooler weather and even the snow? Cherry Pickers can help you out there! We have a wide selection of sweaters and winter coats. One style of coat in particular that I think works best for the in-between temperatures is the pea coat; a style that will be around for the years to come. What should you be looking for when purchasing your pea coat this season? Let me give you an idea of some of this year’s best items!

Solid Colors- These are in my opinion, the best way to go. You can easily match them with any outfit without it looking extreme or over the top. Some of the best solid colors you can find this year are: white, black, gray, and red.

Lengths- Again there are many different versions of the pea coat. You have the long, mid-length, and short. The long length will dress up you outfit, and is probably best for special occasions. The mid-length is great to wear around for a stroll in the park! The short is perfect for an everyday wear coat. It’s the right length to keep you warm and your style playful at the same time.

Boot Crazy

I love my boots! There are so many different styles you can come up with simply by pairing your outfits with boots. No one can ever have enough shoes, let alone boots! Do you have your new fall styles yet? If not here are some tips to finding the perfect pair this season.

Over the knee boots- This style is hot on the runway! It looks great with leggings and an oversized sweater.

Combat boots- They are making a comeback! These look edgy when paired with your favorite skinny jeans and natural colored tops. Camouflage is a great current style to rock with your combat boots.

Ankle boots- Like we have talked about before these go great with skinny jeans or your dresses for the complete fall look. Most of these styles are found with different types of embellishments.

Cowboy boots- Go a little country this fall! Who doesn’t love a country girl? I would have to say this is by far my favorite style. I love pairing mine with country styled dresses. It’s a fun look that certainly matches the season.

Embellished boots- Studs, rhinestones, and chains are popular on boots this year. They add a little different class to your look. Your embellished boots can give you a chic look for a date night, or a rocker look great for a night on the town!

Fall Cardigans

It’s that time of year again! I love this season, because I can finally ware my cardigans, leggings, and boots! Cardigans are easy to pair with jeans for a casual look or even leggings. (Which I think is super comfortable) There are many different styles and colors that are a hot trend going into the fall season. Here are a few of our favorites!

Short Cardigans: This style works great if you aren’t quite ready to put away your summer dresses yet. These look great with dresses to be paired with your favorite boots.

Long Cardigans: This is perfect to go with your leggings and boots. Long cardigans also work well for layering over your summer tanks if you aren’t quite ready to put those away yet either.

Knit Cardigans: A heavier fabric will defiantly keep you warmer in these fall months. Again this looks great with leggings and boots.

Colors: Watch out for these colors when adding to your wardrobe this fall.
